Split Excel File

Split a large spreadsheet into multiple smaller files by row count — no sign-up, no upload, no file size limit.

Drop an Excel file here, or click to browse

Your files never leave your device. Everything runs locally in your browser — nothing is uploaded to a server, so there's no file size limit, no subscription, and no one but you ever sees what's in your file.

How it works

Upload an Excel file, choose how many data rows each output file should contain, and click Split file. The sheet is broken into chunks of that size (each with the header row repeated) and, if there's more than one, packaged together in a .zip file.

Frequently asked questions

Does each output file keep the header row?+

Yes — the first row of your sheet is treated as a header and repeated at the top of every output file, so each piece is usable on its own.

My file has multiple sheets — are they all split?+

No, only the first sheet is split. If you need other sheets split too, convert them separately by saving each as its own file first.

What if my file has fewer rows than the chunk size I set?+

You'll get a single .xlsx file back instead of a .zip — there's nothing to split, so the tool just returns your data (with the header) as one file.

Is my file uploaded anywhere?+

No. This tool runs entirely in your browser using JavaScript — your spreadsheet is read, split, and downloaded without ever being sent to a server.

Keep a backup of your original file. This tool processes everything locally in your browser, and we've tested it carefully — but no conversion tool handles every PDF perfectly. Always keep your original file and double-check important results before relying on them.
